Family Law
Comprehensive Family Law Firm
Our practice provides quality family law representation for all types of
family law matters. Below are a few areas of specialty.
Divorce
Going through a divorce can be difficult both emotionally and
financially. These issues can be even more devastating if you are
unprepared and do not have adequate representation of your legal
interests. More about divorce.
Child Custody and Visitation
If you have children, a divorce does not mean that your
relationship with your ex-spouse is over. The manner in which
child custody and visitation issues are handled during and after the
divorce have a lasting impact on children. It is in the best
interests of your children that you and your ex-spouse are able to
communicate with each other in order to raise your children with
meaningful contact from both parents. Any communication issues
should be worked out during the divorce and not after to ensure that any
custody and visitation arrangement will work for both parties and more
importantly that it will work for the children. More about
child
custody and visitation.
Child
Support
Under Florida law, both parents have a legal obligation to
financially support their children. The amount of child support is
set by law. Florida has many mechanisms
for enforcement of child support including garnishment of wages,
property seizure, suspension of business licenses, suspension of drivers
license and vehicle registration, and in some cases, criminal penalties.
More about child support.
Alimony
There are different types of alimony in Florida. Each type is
granted only in specific circumstances, but all types of alimony require
that the party seeking alimony has a need and the party paying has the
financial ability to pay. More about alimony.
Post-Judgment Modification
If there has been a significant change in circumstances since
the judgment in your divorce was entered, you may be entitled to a
modification in such areas as child support, alimony, child custody, or
visitation rights. More about post-judgment modification.
Paternity
Children have a right to be supported by both parents.
Further, unmarried fathers have a right to see their children. If
the biological father of a child is not the legal father, then paternity
must be established before any rights to child support or visitation
exist. More about paternity actions.
